So for anyone who hasn't read Heather Dixon's lovely book, "Entwined," then I highly recommend it. This is her heroine, Azalea, the eldest of twelve princesses. In the wee hours of a morning during last spring's finals week, I felt the urge to draw and this was what I'd read most recently. As a persnickety historical costumer, I loved all her descriptions of Victorian-esque clothes and customs, and felt inspired to try my hand at a ca. 1850s mourning dress for Azalea. I'm not sure if white undersleeves and collars were mourning appropriate, but I liked the look
